What's the 80/20 Rule for Social Media?

Updated: Aug 22, 2018

Are you following the 80/20 rule on Social Media?

The rule states that, 80% of your social media posts should inform, educate, and entertain your audience, while only 20% should directly promote your business.

According to Houselens.com "This rule grew out of a concept called “permission marketing,” outlined by Seth Godin almost 10 years ago.

According to Godin, “Permission marketing is the privilege (not the right) of delivering anticipated, personal and relevant messages to people who actually want to get them. It recognizes the new power of the best consumers to ignore marketing.”

So, the next time you post something, look to see if you are following the 80/20 rule on Social Media. Following this simple step could see drastic improvement in your social reach!

Good luck.
